Kriya and Bree take over New York!

I don't think I can fully explain how happy I was to find out my sister and Bree were making the quick trip to New York for the weekend.  Kriya's good friend Paula was having a baby shower, so that gave yet another reason for her to visit.  Now don't get me wrong, I miss my sister tremendously, but my heart aches for my sweet niece Bree.  I miss that girl so very much.

So Kriya and Bree came to town for a very quick weekend.  After they had some flight delays, I picked them up from the airport.  I had this adorable face running down the hallway of the airport, yelling "Sheeeesha, where are you?"  She wore this very special outfit specifically to show it to Uncle Trent.  We didn't have the heart to tell her she wouldn't be seeing Uncle Trent that night, so we had to take a picture and send it to him so he could see!

So we then had to navigate our way from the airport to the hotel in Manhattan.  I am slowly learning my way around this big city, but driving in it is a whole other ball game.  Luckily, with patience and gps, we made it to our hotel, valet parked, and ventured out to the city for dinner.  We chose something nearby, some good ole italian food, so Bree could get her favorite Spaghetti and Meatballs!

CHEERS to Bree and Kriya's arrival in NYC!!

Bree's favorite dinner

And then we chose to explore and walk around Times Square at 9-10pm with a 3 and 1/2 year old - an no stroller.  It was a great idea!  No really, Bree was a trooper!! and she got to go into the Disney Store in Times Square and pick out a special treat.

TIMES SQUARE

The Radio City Christmas tree was already up

And now we were ready to crash - a girls slumber party - a king bed shared between the 3 of us!

Bree mesmerized by the tall buildings!

A view from the hotel - you can see the fall leaves changing in Central Park
On Saturday morning, we made our way to Brooklyn (another fun navigational adventure!) for Paula's baby shower.  Paula is a friend of Kriya's from back home.  They grew up together and have been friends for years.  Paula also has a sister, Erin, that was just a year younger than me, and we were also good friends.  So it was a fun opportunity for us to all get together and share in the excitement of Paula getting ready for her first born.  Paula lives in Manhattan where she met her husband.  He was born and raised in Brooklyn, where we were lucky enough to have the baby shower in the condo he grew up in.  The condo was beautiful and had an unbelievable patio terrace with ridiculous views.

And here's the 4 of us: me, Erin (who is also pregnant!), Paula and my sister

After the shower, we made the drive up to West Point so Kriya and Bree could get to see where Trent and I call home.  West Point is only an hour north of Manhattan, but you feel like a world away once you are there.  Sunday morning was sunny, but super chilly and windy.  We were able to get outside long enough to see some beautiful views of West Point and the fall leaves.

Historic Trophy Point

BEST PHOTO BOMB EVER!

How could you NOT love this face!

We also made the scenic drive up to the top of Bear Mountain.
You can't see it in this picture, but from this spot, you can see all the way to the skyline of Manhattan

My heart was so happy having this girl in my arms!

Needless to say, it was a wonderful weekend having them here and made for a very rough Monday for me at work.  I was super emotional when they left - just reminds me how much I miss them.

Halloween!!

Trent and I were invited to a Halloween Party at our friends Brent and Amber.  Costumes were required!  So I rummaged through my old cheerleading box and came out with these gems!

My 8th Grade Cheerleading Uniform!

The hostess Amber is always so creative - she gives credit to Pinterest!

Vodka eyeballs anyone?!

And then somehow Trent ended up with the wig of someone else's costume...I couldn't take him seriously

Mom explores West Point!

My mom had a few days off work, and quickly booked a trip up to visit.  It has just been eating my mom up that she wasn't there to help Trent and I move in, and she was dying to get up to see where her "baby" lives!  I hadn't started working yet, and was thrilled to have her visit - keep me company, and selfishly help me get some stuff done around the house (gotta love moms!).  Her visit was fast - we never even made it to Manhattan to explore the big city.  Next time I guess!

Mom was so proud and excited to share in the excitement of West Point - a co-worker gave her this sweatshirt, and she was thrilled to surprise Trent and I! (she's going to kill me for sharing this photo!)

My mom has a dream of one day hiking the entire Appalachian Trail, so she was excited to be able to hike part of the trail that was right near West Point.  So Saturday morning, Trent, my mom, and myself set out to hike the popular and not too difficult trail called "Anthony's Nose".

The view from the top.
Below is the Bear Mountain Bridge

A lot of the trip was just showing mom around the grounds of historic West Point Academy.

The rest of the trip was spent with my mom helping me do a lot of things that I have needed to get done - we went to the mall to do Trent and I's wedding registry, we shopped for curtains, hung the curtains, got a new rug for the living room and helped me make a frame and chalkboard, and planted some plants in the front garden beds.  Photos of all this stuff on another post...to be continued!

NYC Day Trip

I had wanted to watch the Georgia vs. LSU game at the NYC Alumni Bar, so we decided to make a day trip to NYC.  The game wasn't until 3:30, so we did some sight seeing before.

We took the free ferry to Staten Island - you can see the Statue of Liberty from the boat!

We were trying to get Manhattan in the picture from the top of the ferry
The UGA Alumni Bar is now at a new bar, called The Whiskey Bar.  It was so fun to watch the game with all my fellow UGA fans.  This picture was taken because my brother Shawn didnt believe that Trent was rooting for the Dawgs, he wanted proof!

West Point hosted its own Oktoberfest party.  We got a few friends together and joined in the festivities

The event took place over at the base of the ski slope - so you can see in this picture the ski lifts!

They had a costume contest...with only 3 couples participating!
